I have spent some fifty years as an educator, from band director to college dean, and have formed my own views of the profession. In 2004 I published a small book of essays entitled Education as
Spiritual Enterprise: Moral Discernment in Education, Court Street Press, Montgomery, AL. I am revising the original essays and adding several more essays to form Education as Spiritual Initiative: Essays on Moral Discernment, Moral Determination, and Healing the Souls of American Education.
